The ultimate guide to Hyrox away races

36 Hyrox races worth flying to, compared on field size, median finish times, flights, entry and weekend cost from Toronto. Plus where Canadians race most.

Edited by Laura Rossi

Hyrox athlete, Toronto · Oct 6, 2026 · Checked October 2026

As of October 6, 2026. Picking an away race comes down to five numbers: how big the field is, how fast it runs, what the flight costs, what the weekend costs, and where it sits in your season. We pulled all five for 36 Hyrox races worth flying to, from the official results, the official event pages, KAYAK and the Government of Canada. Every number below has a source and a date in the methodology. The interactive version, with every race on a map from your home city, lives at /races/away.

Where do Canadians race Hyrox?

Mostly at home. Across the 2025-26 season and the 2026-27 season so far, the official results list 12,327 singles results from athletes with Canada as their nation, from 109 different events. 81% of them were at four Canadian races: Toronto 2026 (3,166), Ottawa 2026 (2,651), Toronto 2025 (2,458) and Vancouver's first race in December 2025 (1,714).

When Canadians do travel, they go south first. The top away races by Canadian singles finishers:

RaceCanadian singlesCanadian doubles teams
New York 2026310305
Las Vegas 2026202238
Phoenix 202615983
Washington DC, Sept 202611292
Miami Beach 2026105134
Chicago 20258897
Boston 20258786
Houston 20267456
Cancún 20266945
Hong Kong 20265279

Las Vegas pulled more Canadians than Chicago and Boston combined, despite being more than four times the distance. Outside North America the list is Hong Kong (52), Stockholm's spring 2026 race (50), Bangkok (49), Barcelona (33), and London ExCeL and Melbourne (30 each). "Canadian" here means the nation an athlete chose at registration, so it includes Canadians living abroad.

How do you pick a Hyrox away race?

Start with what you want from the weekend, then let the numbers narrow it.

Field size. Bigger fields mean more people at your pace in every heat and a louder hall. New York (10,490 singles finishers in 2026) and London (9,999) are the giants. Anaheim (1,223 in 2024), Atlanta (1,701 in 2025) and Dallas (1,854 in 2024) are the smallest in this guide.

Median times. The median is the finisher in the exact middle of the open field. It tells you how deep the field is. European majors run fast: Dublin, Barcelona, Valencia and Paris all had a 1:22 men's median and London 1:23, against 1:34 at Toronto 2026. If you want to finish mid-pack with a number you'd be proud of anywhere, a North American race puts that line further back. If you want to be pulled along, go to Europe. Not sure what yours means? Here's what a good Hyrox time looks like.

Flights. From Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Boston, Washington, New York, Chicago, Nashville and Tampa all sit under C$600 at the top of KAYAK's typical return range. Europe starts around C$640 (Dublin) and Asia-Pacific around C$1,260 (Hong Kong).

Cost. Hotels move the total more than flights do in most cities. See the cost breakdown below.

Timing in your season. Count back from race day. Ten weeks from Toronto in October gets you to Vancouver in December; Chicago in February gives you about eighteen. Racing two weeks apart is possible, recovering properly between them is the hard part.

The races, one stat card each

Every card uses the same fields: last field size from the official results, median open finish times, Canadians in the last field, flight distance and KAYAK's typical return fare from Toronto, published entry price, our weekend estimate from Toronto, and the climate normal for the race month. The full table has all 36.

What does a Hyrox away weekend cost?

Three real examples from Toronto, one athlete, three nights:

TotalC$1,421 to C$2,515C$1,447 to C$2,010C$2,291 to C$3,454

What's not in there: the 6.5% service fee on the ticket, food, local transport, a spectator ticket for whoever comes to cheer, and the UK ETA (£20) for London. Hotel ranges run from the city's cheapest month to its most expensive, across all star levels, so your race week can land anywhere in them. Split a room with your doubles partner and the hotel line halves.

Away-race logistics

Flights

Book the flight before anything else that's hard to move. KAYAK lists direct flights from Toronto to every US and Mexican race in this guide except Portland and Salt Lake City, and to London, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Hong Kong. It lists none to Valencia, Hamburg, Stockholm, Melbourne, Singapore or Bangkok, and the Barcelona and Berlin pages contradict themselves, which usually means a seasonal route. Check your dates. Fly in at least the day before your wave.

Where to stay

Check where the venue is before you pick a neighbourhood. Several big races aren't downtown:

  • Phoenix races at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, not central Phoenix.
  • London is at ExCeL in the Docklands, east of the centre.
  • Hong Kong is at AsiaWorld-Expo, beside the airport on Lantau.
  • Singapore is at Singapore EXPO near Changi, and Bangkok at BITEC in Bang Na.
  • Stockholm is at Strawberry Arena in Solna, north of the city.
  • Cancún races outdoors on the Malecón Tajamar waterfront.

The convention-centre races (Vancouver, Boston, Las Vegas, Miami Beach, Dallas, Anaheim) and Chicago's Navy Pier sit in or beside their downtowns, with hotels close by. Toronto athletes have done this in reverse; the out-of-towners guide shows what a venue-first booking looks like.

Race-week timeline

  • 8 to 12 weeks out: entry booked, flights booked, hotel booked with free cancellation. UK ETA or Australian ETA applied for.
  • 2 weeks out: check the event page for your start wave and race-pack details.
  • Race week: pack, follow the race week kit list, and confirm how you're getting from the hotel to the venue.
  • Day before: arrive, walk to the venue, find the start pens and the bag drop.
  • After: results land in the official results; that's when your splits tell you what to fix for the next one. How to read your result.

What to pack and bag drop

Pack race kit in your carry-on: shoes, gloves, the top you trained in. Lost luggage is a race-ending problem that a carry-on solves. Bag drop rules vary by venue, so check the event page. The night-before checklist covers the rest.

Time zones and race-day timing

Your wave time is local time. From Toronto, Vancouver is two hours behind during the December race (B.C. stays on UTC-7 from November 2026), Las Vegas and Anaheim three hours behind, and the European races five or six hours ahead. An 8 am wave in London is 3 am in Toronto. Melbourne is 16 hours ahead in December. Arrive with enough days to be awake at your wave time.

Doubles and relay partners when you travel

Doubles is the most travel-friendly way to race: shared room, shared cab, one person to keep the other on schedule. Doubles tickets are sold per athlete, so each of you buys one. If your usual partner can't travel, find one at your pace before you book: AthleteField matches partners on real race data and splits. How partner matching works.

Where AthleteField fits

  • See who's racing. Each race gets a field on AthleteField where you see who else is going. Toronto's is live. Other cities open their field at 100 athletes. Find your city and join the waitlist so yours opens.
  • Find a partner at your pace, matched on race data, for doubles or relay.
  • Buy or sell a spot on the field's ticket board. AthleteField doesn't handle payment or transfers; complete any transfer through the official race process. Toronto's is here.
  • Track your crew on race day from the race-day page, so the people at home see every split. How crew tracking works.

How we built this

Results. Official HYROX results at hyrox.r.mikatiming.com, seasons 8 (2025-26) and 9 (2026-27 to date), read October 5 and 6, 2026. Field size counts ranked singles results (open and pro) and doubles teams at each race's most recent edition in the archive. Median times are the middle finisher of the open men's and women's lists. The archive repeats some rows and some combined lists are incomplete, so we deduplicated by name and time and checked combined lists against the day-by-day lists. Dallas and Anaheim's most recent editions in the archive are 2024. The December 2025 Vancouver results sit in the archive without a city label; we identified them by the pro men's winner and the share of Canadian finishers.

Canadians. Results filtered to nation CAN, which is the nationality an athlete picks at registration. Doubles are teams whose listed nation is CAN. Some results in the archive aren't labelled with a city at all; we left those out, so the counts outside Canada are a floor.

Travel and cost. Fares are KAYAK Canada's "typical prices" return range for each route, read October 6, 2026, not quotes. Distances are great-circle, airport to airport. Hotels are KAYAK's city-wide average nightly rate, cheapest month to most expensive. Ticket prices are the published open price in each official ticket shop, read October 6, 2026, before the 6.5% service fee, converted at Bank of Canada rates for October 5, 2026. Weather is the 1991-2020 climate normal for the race month. Entry requirements are from travel.gc.ca and the destination governments, read October 6, 2026. Dates and venues are from each race's hyrox.com event page, read October 5, 2026; confirm with the organizer before you book.

Quick answers

Which Hyrox race has the biggest field?
By singles finishers in the official results, New York (10,490 at its 2026 edition) and London (9,999 at ExCeL in December 2025), then Berlin (8,087 in 2026) and Washington DC (6,197 in September 2026). Doubles teams come on top of those numbers.
Which Hyrox race has the fastest finish times?
The European majors. The median open men's time was 1:22 at Dublin, Barcelona, Valencia and Paris Grand Palais and 1:23 at London, against 1:34 at Toronto 2026. A faster median means a deeper field, not an easier course.
Where do Canadians race Hyrox outside Canada?
In the 2025-26 season and 2026-27 so far, the official results list the most Canadian singles finishers at New York (310), Las Vegas (202), Phoenix (159), Washington DC (112), Miami Beach (105), Chicago (88) and Boston (87). Outside North America it's Hong Kong (52), Stockholm (50) and Bangkok (49).
How much does a Hyrox away weekend cost from Toronto?
Using KAYAK's typical return fares, three hotel nights at KAYAK's city averages and the published open ticket, Chicago comes to about C$1,421 to C$2,515, Las Vegas C$1,447 to C$2,010 and London C$2,291 to C$3,454. Food, local transport and the 6.5% ticket service fee are extra.
Do Canadians need a visa to race Hyrox in Europe or the UK?
No visa for a short tourist trip. The UK needs an Electronic Travel Authorisation (GBP 20) before you fly. Schengen countries need no authorization yet; ETIAS has no published start date as of October 6, 2026. Australia needs an ETA. Check travel.gc.ca before booking.
When is the next Hyrox in Canada?
Vancouver runs December 17 to 20, 2026 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, and Ottawa April 21 to 25, 2027 (venue not announced yet). Toronto's 2027 dates weren't announced as of October 5, 2026.
What time is Hyrox Vancouver compared to Toronto?
Two hours behind. British Columbia stopped changing its clocks in 2026 and stays on UTC-7, so during the December race Vancouver is two hours behind Toronto, not three.
