Racing Vancouver: the Hyrox guide (2026)

HYROX Vancouver runs December 17 to 20, 2026 at the Vancouver Convention Centre, right on the downtown waterfront. It's the next Canadian stop of the 2026-27 season after Toronto, with Ottawa to follow on April 21 to 25, 2027.

When is Hyrox Vancouver 2026?

December 17 to 20, 2026, the weekend before Christmas. Your race day is assigned with your start wave, so an entry can mean a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday race. The organizer confirms your exact start time closer to the event. The date does its own filtering: this is the race for people happy to close out the year with 8 kilometres of running and a wall of wall balls.

7 of 100 to open Vancouver

Toronto, our first field, has 640+ athletes. Vancouver opens at 100.

Where is the race?

The Vancouver Convention Centre at 1055 Canada Place, on Burrard Inlet in the middle of downtown. It's about as central as a race venue gets: hotels, the SkyTrain and the waterfront are all within walking distance, so you can do the whole weekend without a car.

How do you get there from Toronto?

Direct flights between Toronto and Vancouver run daily and take roughly five hours, which is an estimate, so check your own dates. The part that catches people out is the time change: B.C. stopped changing its clocks in 2026 and stays on UTC-7, so in December Vancouver is two hours behind Toronto. An 8 am wave feels like 6 am to your body, so flying in a day or two early is worth more here than at any race in the Eastern time zone.

What's the Hyrox format?

Identical to Toronto, because the format is identical everywhere. Eight 1 km runs alternating with eight stations in a fixed order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. Roxzone transitions count toward your time, so the race is decided as much between the stations as on them. If you raced Toronto in October, Vancouver in December is a clean rematch: same course logic, ten weeks of training in between, and a direct answer to whether the work worked. Reading your October splits is where that ten-week plan starts. If it's your first Hyrox, expect a loud hall, a course that loops through it, and spectators close enough to read your face on the wall balls.

What Hyrox divisions can you race?

Individual open and pro for men and women. Doubles in men's, women's and mixed, plus pro doubles, where the pair runs together and one athlete works at a time on the stations. And relay, with a team of four splitting the race. A December doubles race is a good shout for a Toronto pair who want a shared target through the fall.

What does the trip actually look like?

A long weekend. Fly out Thursday or Friday, race, spend a day in a city where the mountains sit at the end of the street, fly home before the holidays. Most Toronto athletes who travel to a race do it in a group: shared hotel, shared race-morning nerves, someone at the barrier when the wall balls get quiet. If you're planning Vancouver, AthleteField is where the Toronto field hangs out, and the easiest way to find out who else is booking the same flight west.
