Hyrox Athens: dates, venue, and what to expect

HYROX Athens runs September 5 to 6, 2026 at Metropolitan Expo, and it's a first: Greece has never had a HYROX race before. Whoever wins the weekend becomes the first-ever HYROX Athens champion, and everyone else on the floor gets to say they were at the debut.

When is Hyrox Athens 2026?

September 5 to 6, Saturday and Sunday. Your race day is assigned with your start wave, and your exact start time comes from the organizer closer to the race.

Where is the race?

Metropolitan Expo in Spata, which sits on the grounds of Athens International Airport (ATH), about 35 minutes from the city centre. That location is unusually convenient: Metro Line 3 runs to the airport, the suburban railway has an airport line, express buses cover the coast and the centre, and on-site parking is free. If you're flying in for the race, you land next to the venue.

What's the format?

The same race in every city, which is the point of Hyrox. Eight 1 km runs, alternating with eight stations in a fixed order: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. Transitions through the roxzone count toward your time. Because the format never changes, an Athens result compares directly with one from any other city, first edition or not.

What divisions can you race?

Individual open and pro for men and women. Doubles in men's, women's and mixed, where the pair runs together and splits the station work, plus pro doubles. And relay, where a team of four splits the race.

Training in Athens?

Athens gyms were training for this race before it existed, and a couple publish dedicated Hyrox programs. The Athens gym map has the list, with a link to what each gym publishes about its own training.
