Racing Las Vegas: the Hyrox guide (2027)

HYROX Las Vegas runs March 12 to 14, 2027 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, a few blocks east of the Strip. Of all the stops a Toronto athlete might travel for, this is the one where the race is only half the pitch: it's a spring target, a warm week in March, and the rare event where your non-racing friends volunteer to come along.

When is Hyrox Las Vegas 2027?

March 12 to 14, 2027, three days of racing. Your race day is assigned with your start wave, so an entry can mean a Friday, Saturday or Sunday race, and the organizer confirms your exact start time closer to the event. In Vegas more than anywhere, don't book the fun parts of the trip until you know which day you're working.

Where is the race?

The Las Vegas Convention Center at 3150 Paradise Road, one of the biggest convention complexes anywhere. It sits just east of the Strip, with a monorail stop at the venue and more hotel rooms within two kilometres than most cities own in total. Room rates in Las Vegas swing hard with whatever else is in town that week, so book early and stay flexible on which tower.

How do you get there from Toronto?

Direct flights between Toronto and Las Vegas run regularly and take roughly four and a half to five hours, which is an estimate, so check your own dates. The bigger adjustment is the clock: Las Vegas is three hours behind Toronto, so an early wave feels very early to your body. Flying in a day or two ahead is worth more here than at any Eastern-time race, and it's Vegas, so nobody needs convincing.

What's the Hyrox format?

The same as Toronto, Boston, and everywhere else: eight 1 km runs alternating with eight stations in a fixed order. SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, with roxzone transitions counting toward your time. A March race also gives the winter a job. It sits about five months after Toronto, which is a real build: enough time to fix whatever your October splits exposed rather than just re-running them.

What Hyrox divisions can you race?

Individual open and pro for men and women. Doubles in men's, women's and mixed, plus pro doubles, where the pair runs together and one athlete works at a time. And relay, with a team of four splitting the race. Doubles deserves a special mention here: a destination race is the easiest sell for a partner, and a pair that trained through a Toronto winter together will find the Vegas hall very loud and very fun.

Should you race Vegas or somewhere closer?

Depends what the trip is for. Chicago in February is closer, cheaper and colder; Vegas costs more and gives back a warm long weekend that doubles as a holiday. Either way, away races are better in a group, and the flight is long enough that you'll want company.
